What is a business line of credit?

A business line of credit is revolving funding. A lender approves you for a credit limit, and you draw from it as often as you need, up to that limit. When you repay what you borrowed, that amount becomes available again, so you do not have to reapply each time you need cash.

Unlike a term loan, which pays one lump sum on day one, a line of credit lets you borrow in smaller amounts exactly when the need arises. That makes it an ideal cash flow cushion for South Florida businesses that deal with seasonal swings, slow paying clients or sudden opportunities.

How it works

  • Apply once with your business and financial details.
  • Get matched with lenders and funding partners in our network.
  • Draw when needed from your approved limit as expenses come up.
  • Repay and reuse. As you pay down the balance, available credit is restored.
Example for illustration only: you are approved for a $50,000 line and draw $15,000 for inventory. Interest is charged on the $15,000, not the full $50,000. After you repay $5,000, you have $40,000 available again. Actual limits, rates and fees depend on the lender.

Types of business lines of credit

  • Revolving: available credit refills as you repay. The most common type, built for ongoing needs.
  • Non-revolving: borrow up to a set amount once, then the line closes after repayment. Good for one planned need.
  • Secured: backed by collateral such as equipment, inventory or receivables, which can mean a higher limit or lower rate.
  • Unsecured: no specific collateral pledged. Often faster to set up, usually with a higher rate or lower limit.

FAQ

Business Line of Credit FAQ

Do I pay interest on the full credit limit?

In most cases, no. Interest is generally charged only on the amount you have drawn. Some lenders also charge maintenance or draw fees, which we highlight in each offer.

What can I use a business line of credit for?

Most lenders allow general business purposes such as payroll, inventory, supplies, repairs, marketing and other operating expenses.

Do I need collateral for a line of credit?

Not always. Secured lines use collateral such as equipment or receivables. Unsecured lines do not, but usually come with lower limits or higher rates.

Can a line of credit help build business credit?

Responsible use and on-time payments can strengthen your business credit profile when the lender reports to business credit bureaus.

Is a line of credit better than a working capital loan?

For ongoing or unpredictable needs, a line of credit is usually more efficient. For one large planned expense, a working capital or term loan is often simpler.
